I found the best colours for text for me are blue/green text on a dark grey
background.. Unfortunately when I mouse over the background my mouse cursor
changes to an i-beam which is the same colour as the background! (I can still
see the cursor). Is there any way to change the colour of the I beam in the
app or maybe in my Windows theme?

No I can see the flashing cursor and that changes the color. Its the thing that
replaces the arrow on my mouse position that looks a capital I that
disappears...

That's the windows cursor, you'd have to change the settings in control panel
if I'm not mistaken

That, or change the background from black to dark gray or something

Ah! Yes, this is a Windows appearance/theme issue.
Go to Control panel -> Mouse -> Pointers. You have a number of available cursor
sets called models. You can change your model.
Additionally, cursor files are in C:\WINNT\Cursors (may vary depending on OS
version), and are basically icon files, which can be edited using an icon editor.
Back up original fle and create yur own variation, preferably to be saved as
a new model.

CChris
Note: this works under WinXP Pro, I don' t know about Vista/Win7

I've changed my cursor to some massive ugly thing but at least I can see it
now. I thnk the app could try and be clever and re-colour my cursor but hey ho.
Many thanks
MOC
